Germany, Disunified

Bibi Wilhailm is 16-years-old, German, beautiful and afraid. Of what? Of walking down the damned street.

Here, she elaborates. In German with English translation.

The poor girl goes out of her way not to appear to be xenophobic or against refugees. All she wants is to not be molested in her own country and for the elected leaders of Germany to stop facilitating rapists. Oh and she expects German men to behave like men. I don't think that's to much to ask.

Last week, it was widely reported that the German government had lost track of 600,000 of the so-called refugees. Germany's interior minister now denies this--contradicting himself--but Germany's government seems to have difficulty acknowledging reality, so who knows?

And, of course, the US government is no better.

We all know about Germany's 20th century history of extremism--deadly. But the purposeful influx of members of a culture who view women as property and as spoils of war is still another example of German extremism. Deadly, as well.

Genocide or suicide: are these the only two modes of thinking for German leaders? There has to be a whole lot of middle ground between systematically killing a group of people and allowing hordes of another group into that same country to ravage its women--and, no doubt, men.

But I think that German Chancellor Angela Merkel knows what she's doing: creating intentional chaos. But why? It's almost as if she wants Germans to revert to the ways of their grandparents.

Something else occurred to me yesterday. We all know that President Obama is intent on bringing the same types of groups into the US and we also remember that the US has been accused of spying on Germany; on Merkel in particular. I wonder if Merkel's actions are related to this.

(Thanks to American Thinker)

Unwise

This is a very interesting op-ed by Laura Ingraham. She admonishes the National Review, which, last week, officially came out against the GOP presidential candidacy of Donald Trump.

However, I think that many, many conservatives are making a huge mistake: conflating political ideology with a person-persona who mouths those ideologies but who has not lived them and/or incorporated them in his professional life.

Only religious ideologies are and should be embodied in individuals. Think Jesus the Christ or Mohammed.

Ingraham, no dummy by a long shot, implicitly does this also--perhaps knowingly--and I think I know why: because it won't matter when voting time comes around. She just wants the conservative side to win--what's left of that side.

But is winning everything? See: 114th Congress and its actions since being seated.

I believe that there is, in actuality, only one side left. All else is theater.

How Writing Things are Going

At the end of this month, I'm going to cease selling paperbacks of my novel for an indefinite period. E-books only. So if you want an *autographed* copy, you can get it at my site until January 31. However, if you buy it at Amazon, I can't autograph it.

After the 31st, it will be Kindle only until I can find a local publisher. My last two publishers were small and on the east coast; communications were spotty for that reason.

Again:

Autographed Paperbacks here.

Kindle Here.

I'm re-tooling Arlen's Harem, using some old writings recently found. The new concoction will probably not be called Arlen's Harem, but I may change my mind again.

Also I may do a video blah blah every now and then. 5 minutes max. I promise

Another Super Hero for Blacks

These people, I swear...

In commentary to the flap about no black actors being nominated for this year's Academy Award, actress and Fox News commentator Stacey Dash opined that the USA should get rid of Black History Month. No biggy to me. Symbolic gestures have their place, but sometimes they are pointless and BHM has become that.

Here's the deal: what good does it do to learn long-ago black history if black men and women don't make sure that their children understand how important their more recent heritage is? And how is that accomplished? By getting married. As things stand right now for black Americans in 2016 and for the last 50 years, there are as many black ancestry lines which disappear into a fog as there were back before the Civil War.

Back on topic. Dash is part black and because of her opinion, comedian John Fugelsang--who is white--had this to say about her.
He's getting quite the pummeling--including from me--but I'm guessing that he doesn't understand the reaction at all. And to be honest, I wouldn't know where to begin to explain because, likely, his faulty assumptions are Legion.

I can only think to go to the foundation: [insert tribe here] supremacism. All tribal supremacism doctrines hold that tribes -- or races, if you will -- have certain individual ways of thinking which are DNA-specific, to all members of an individual tribe and which have rank; some tribes' ways of thinking are better than others, that is.

This is Fugelsang's unconscious assumption, unconscious being the operative word. Another one is that, no matter what year it is, it's always 1968. He probably feels persecuted, poor thing.

Strategy for Tyranny (UPDATED)

A reminder: Fast and Furious isn’t just a movie.
The Fast and Furious operation involved federal agents allowing criminals to buy guns with the intention of tracking them.
Instead, agents from the ATF lost track of 1,400 of the 2,000 guns involved in the sting operation.
The operation allowed criminals to buy guns in Phoenix-area shops with the intention of tracking them once they made their way into Mexico.
The arrest of Sinaloa cartel head El Chapo uncovered a .50-caliber rifle. This weapon was traced directly to the Obama Administration’s Fast and Furious program.
When agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives checked serial numbers of the eight weapons found in his possession, they found one of the two .50-caliber weapons traced back to the ATF program, sources said.
But the one rifle is only the tip of the iceberg.
Out of the roughly 2,000 weapons sold through Fast and Furious, 34 were .50-caliber rifles that can take down a helicopter, according to officials.
Glenn reminds us that
…the purpose of [Fast and Furious] was to put weapons in Mexican gangsters’ hands that could be traced back to American sales, as a pretext for stricter gun regulations here. They were willing to accept increased deaths as collateral damage.
The concept of increased deaths needs to be spelled out. Not only was the Obama Administration willing to accept increased deaths of Mexican citizens, but also American citizens. Fast and Furious was a part of a long-term plan—a strategic plan.

Whole Armor of God (ht: Voice of the Watchman)
Confiscation of all firearms from all law-abiding American citizens would give the advantage to those who refuse to abide by the law: those who wish to take what’s yours, all the way up to and including your life. There are thousands and thousands of individual predators in this country who would rejoice at such an opportunity, but the gangs are the ones which are most troubling.  We’ve seen that in Europe recently, and those predators are armed only with their penises.

A nation-wide confiscation of firearms would free up street gangs like MS-13 and Mexican cartels to rampage and battle over turf. And let’s not forget that there are many Islamic groups in the USA which lie in wait. Here's one.

Such a confiscation would lead to nation-wide chaos and that is what it is intended to do. And who will the law-abiding—those left alive—look to for rescue? Government. Such a scenario is a perfect pretext for martial law. (Note the spelling of ‘martial.’)

Short-term thinking abounds. But the enemy thinks in the long-term. And I’m not talking about the puppeteers of the Obama Administration…well, not only them.

UPDATE: Just found out from Maetenloch at Ace's place that one of the terrorists at last year's Draw Muhammad contest in Texas also had a Fast and Furious weapon: a 9-mm pistol.

Loss and Gain

…Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.
--Job 1:21

Through a miscommunication with Public Storage, I lost the bulk of my personal belongings via lien sale. So every earthly thing I have is in my apartment with me. The bad news: I lost many items which had sentimental value: my great-aunt’s old crystal stemware, her cast-iron skillets, and a file of sentimental papers—e.g. a hand-made card from the child of an old friend. But the only thing I’m really alarmed about is the fact that I lost one of my old laptops which had a lot of information on it. I lost my cedar desk and file cabinet. I lost the old-school stereo that I tried to sell for months; years if you go all the way back to 2013.

I lost my Great Book volumes…and most of my clothing, including a set of Saks Fifth Avenue short boots which I bought in 1985. Sixty dollar they cost, which I thought was a fortune then. They earned their keep, however, and served me well for thirty years, so I can’t complain too much about that. I hope another lady likes them as much as I did.

Blessedly, I removed most of my personal papers from the unit a while back, and not a few other items of sentimental value.

But, yes, I cried my eyes out when I found out.

This is not a plea for replacement, but a musing on Things. I spent a lot of time--and money--trying to keep my property. But now it’s not mine and I’m looking around at the Things I still “have” and think these things can be taken also, even the clothes I’m wearing and the laptop I’m using to type this. If the new owner of “my” things is unscrupulous, my very identity can be sold and besmirched.

I’m done crying about it or even worrying about it, however. As it happens, I had been praying hard in the last few days, asking God to show me what He wanted me to do for His Kingdom while I’m still on earth. I don’t know, but I think He’s letting me know that there are more important things to give my time to than worrying about how to keep the things which will eventually rot and rust.

I’m not going to lie; this is very painful. But I learned a long time ago that, sometimes, God’s blessings don’t always feel too good. As a matter of fact, those which really sting at the beginning are usually the ones which, in hindsight, have the most long-lasting benefit.

I want to thank all of you who, over the last year, tried to help me keep my stuff. I hope you don’t think you wasted your money. If it helps at all, you taught me that many of you care about the things which cannot be taken away and you taught me about love and friendship. And family.

God bless all of you.

Am I Crazy?

Have you ever watched something unfold but said nothing or little because you felt it would be pointless, that no one would listen and/or that you would be ridiculed? For years, that was me. And the idea that I might be persecuted by the government crossed my mind as well.

As I get closer to God, however, I’m finding that I don’t care.

I’m trying to figure out if there is a political/mental/spiritual connection to the 20th century genocides in European, conducted by European leaders, and 21st century Europe’s apparent willingness to allow millions of Muslim immigrants into its “countries,” along with allowing thousands of European women to be raped by these same immigrants. Both seem like strategic methods of “perfecting” a population--shaping a population's size and composition to quantities and qualities desired.

Looking at the decades of unchecked illegal immigration in America, the effects of the Great Society mindset on—disproportionately--black Americans, and the plan to insert hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees into the American population, one might conclude that our population is being “perfected” as well.

And let’s not forget that both European and American women have been aborting their children for quite some time.

This is an ingenious form of warfare, people, especially that last tactic.

There are a lot of people out there who have been saying for decades that this world is ruled by hidden actors—the un-hidden George Soros notwithstanding. They are ridiculed as Conspiracy Theorists. It’s alleged that these Hidden Actors want the world to be much smaller in population—easier to control that way—and have been, for centuries, influencing events to that end. Crazy, no? ::::winks::::

I don’t know. I do know that European and American leaders demonstrably do not have the interests of their respective constituents at heart. Looking at what they have allowed...no, looking at what they have perpetrated on their populations, it is reasonable to wonder who their constituents really are.

Keeping it Clean

With the Instapundit link to yesterday's post, I have new readers and some new donations. Thank you!

However, if you would prefer not to donate money, I have something else I could really use. These next photos were taken right outside my front window.

My landlords clean it when they are here, but you know the deal--it's back to being trashed not a day later. Apartment dwellers. As a former home-owner, I know that the Broken Windows theory of Law Enforcement also applies to trash. Crap begets more crap. I'm certain also, that it contributes not a small amount to my battle with unwanted, six-legged guests. (I'm winning that one. My floors stay clean.)

So I want to take it upon myself to maintain a bit of order in this one little area I can help control. If you would like to contribute a Trash Grabber Tool for it, this one is my preference. It's also on my wishlist. Thanks!

Fundraiser continues until goal is met.

FUNDRAISER UPDATE: The goal is $1500 in sales and donations by December 31. As of today at 12:30 PM PT, there have been 19 donations totaling $1339.00 and one sale totaling $10.99, for a grand total of $1349.99. Almost there. Thank you!

Exposure: BLMs Love White People (UPDATED)

Hey, Collective White People! Here’s a little secret. Black Lives Matter types, NAACP, Congressional Black Caucus, New Black Panther Party sorts, etc.—I’m shortening this to BLMs--may come get me after I tell it, but I will take my chances. And, after all, even if they come get me, the secret will already be out. So here it is.

Are you ready?

BLMs love you, Collective White People. How do I know this? Because they care so much about
Because it's Trek and sexier than the kiss
what all of you think of Collective Black People; they care about how Collective Black People look in your collective eyes.

How do I know this? Years of being told by black leftists that “they”—meaning you, Collective White People—are laughing at black conservatives for putting forth conservative viewpoints. I mean, even if you were, who gives a rats? I don’t love the collective you, white people. But since BLMs do love you and since they do think collectively—think tribally—at all times and under all circumstances, they think that all black people think this way, and, therefore, think that black conservatives believe what we believe out of this same type of love for you, Collective White People.

Trust me, I know for a fact that a great number of individuals among you, Collective White People, are jackholes, and, therefore, I do not love you as a group. (Yes, I know. My groups, too.)

Here’s another indication of their love for you, Collective White People: every time an individual black conservative points to some nefarious action of an individual black person or group of black persons, BLMs say that this black conservative is “making blacks look bad.” Again, BLMs care how Collective Black People look in your eyes, Collective White People.

Oh, they couldn’t care less about fixing the real problems among black Americans. No. They just want you to ignore the real problems, bow down and worship Blackness. They want you to love blackness, to worship it—and like an abusive spouse, they will demand your love and claim that the abuse is what you deserve. And they want it because blackness is all they think that Collective Black People have; no other abilities like intellect or tenacity. Yes, it's true, BLMs believe that Collective Black People are inferior, though they have no conscious awareness of this. If they did, they wouldn't be BLMs.

So, now that you know this, what are you going to do about the exposure of this secret, this revelation?

Here’s what I suggest: stop doing what they do. Stop looking at blacks or whites or any other racial group as a collective. Look at the individual and act/react accordingly.

This is our only hope as individuals, as groups of individuals, and as a nation.

UPDATE: What BLMs want you to know...

Happy to Be Alive

Happy New Year!

So, yesterday, I re-tweeted the following.
My Twitter account and my Facebook page are connected, and on the latter, the assertion caused a bit of a stir. Because of this, I will expound on why this is a logical assertion, though I have done so many times since 2007.

It’s difficult for many people to separate the personal from the impersonal and, related to that, it’s difficult for many to pull back and view people, events, actions, concepts, ideology, etc.—or some combination thereof—and separate these from singular, one-off facts which are personal in nature. But the separation of the personal and the impersonal, along with the pull-back are necessary when one needs to take a clear, sober view of what is and what’s probably on the way.

Some of my friends, dear and cherished, are fans of President Obama. Now, we all know that there are many out there who will cheer on the president no matter what he does, and will do so for tribal reasons. (Don’t forget that tribalism isn’t always racial or ethnic in nature.) Others, however, have personally benefited from some of his actions as president, so it is understandable that they like him.

But understandable and correct are two different qualities in this context. The president presides over a citizenry of 300 million plus.

Any President of the United States is not just the president of you or me, fellow Americans. And, in view of America’s informal role as leader, the policies and actions of a President of the United States affect more than just America. Therefore, if an individual has benefited from an action or a policy implemented by President Obama, that fact is irrelevant to determining whether he has been a “good president” or not. (Side note: it can be argued that America and the rest of the world would be better off if America would pull back from that role, but, as with any role abdication, there will be others who will try to fill the role and those others will not always have magnanimous intentions for the world. As a matter of fact, it is almost certain that they will not.)

Back to the overarching view of the Obama presidency: many observers have provided lists of this president’s words, policies and actions and have concluded that Barack Obama is not merely a terrible president, but that he is actively seeking to destroy this country as it has existed. As it happens, I agree with this conclusion and, having paid close attention to who Barack Obama is and what he believes since his existence became widely known, I’m not surprised in the least of how this presidency is playing out.

But the reactions to making such a conclusion public tells the story: President Obama’s existence and ascension are personal to all too many. And, personally, I’ve experienced the effects of opposing Barack Obama’s election and his actions as POTUS—as many know, my biological father and that of the president are of the same Kenyan ethnic group—the Luo tribe. Members of the Kenyan side my family have expressed dismay at my public opposition to our acknowledged kinsman.

But, pulling back yet again, many non-Luos and non-blacks have a vested interest in the "success" of the Obama presidency and it isn’t just personal. Many Americans—not just liberals and Leftists—wanted the first president of acknowledged African descent to do well in that office as a symbolic victory over this country’s history of legislated racism.

That’s a noble sentiment. But sentiment is irrelevant when something so serious is being decided.

And since we’re being straight here, I had a huge problem with that sentiment: those using it failed to take Barack Obama into account as a man and a political entity, and failed to take a clear look at how the combination of those things fit with the office to which he aspired. Instead, toall too many of his fans, his ascendance represented who we are--or who we are supposed to be--as a nation. Voting for Barack Obama seemed to be a self-congratulatory act. Who he really is and who he has been in his 54 years on this earth was considered irrelevant and any questioning of that existence was/is deemed racist or self-hating.

It is as if any black man would have fit the bill for this historic first.

Underneath that, is the presumption is that no black person would have nefarious intentions for this country. Anyone who is related to black people and/or lived next to some should have known better than this.

Who Mr. Obama is and has been, both personally and politically, has been out there from Day One, even though much of the professional media has refused to publicize it. However, even that which they have publicized, is telling. But observers have to 1) be able to use these facts to come to cogent conclusions about Mr. Obama, and 2) be willing to do so.

Most of the Obama supporters in my own sphere are able. Willing is another story. But when one takes a look at what has been said and done by this president--when one takes a look a the effects of this president's actions and policies--to conclude that he has this country's best interest at heart is the most wishful of thinking and wishful thinking can get you killed.

So it is again that I co-sign on Peter's assertion; I'm grateful to have survived 2015 in one piece, in spite of our president's stated intention to fundamentally transform my country and his demonstrable actions--and the results thereof--which tell my lying eyes that I won't like the end results of that transformation.

And it gives me no joy to suspect that President Obama's fans will not like those results either.

Fundraiser continues until goal is met.

Random Thought

Yesterday at Da Tech Guy Blog, I wrote a post entitled Tribalism Replaces Truth.

This morning, it occurred to me that losers in tribal wars always end up wiped out or enslaved. Last century's European tribal war (WWII) is about the only one where that was not so.

 Is that where we're heading?

Read This Stuff (12/29/15)

Fundraising Goal almost reached! See below.

In From The Cold And Out Again… How The CIA Was Duped And Their Double Agent Failure
In East Germany, all the recruited CIA agents working there were found to be double agents working secretly for the Ministry of State Security spy service, also known as the Stasi. All. Of. Them. Noodle that for a moment. According to Stasi officers, they failed at placing agents in the CIA. But there wasn’t a single CIA op on their turf that they weren’t able to detect using double agents and counterespionage operations. Fischer said the controlled East German assets “rendered U.S. intelligence deaf, dumb and blind.”
Good Riddance To 2015, The Year Of The Big Lie
Lying, by itself, is obviously not new. What is new is the growing acceptance of lying as "no big deal" by smug sophisticates, so long as these are lies that advance their political causes. Many in the media greeted the exposure of Hillary Clinton's lies by admiring how well she handled herself.
Lies are a wall between us and reality — and being walled off from reality is the biggest deal of all. Reality does not disappear because we don't see it. It just hits us like a ton of bricks when we least expect it.
The Cult of Magic
For the unaware, Magic Dirt Theory claims that the soil alters behavior. Place a bunch of Bantus in Paris and they magically transform into Frenchmen. Round up residents of your typical inner city, set them up in suburbia and they become the Cleavers, just without all the honky-ism and white privilege. They will quit gang-banging, get jobs, pay taxes and join the Rotary Club.

In the ongoing crisis, it’s tempting to think that belief in magic is new or just a last gasp, but magic has always been a central part of the Cult of Modern Liberalism. Decades ago, moonbats were convinced that if they affixed a Darwin Fish to their Subaru, it would turn the vehicle’s occupants into scientists. Back in the day, the surest way to spot the innumerate was to look for the Darwin Fish.
I need  some Chik-fil-A.
Unlike many restaurants, Chick-fil-A is known for more than just food: it's also famous for being closed on Sundays.

But in the name of a good cause, some locations in Texas northeast of Dallas turned the lights on Sunday after tornadoes ripped through the state and killed 11 people.

Kwanzaa: The Night After Christmas

Re-post from 2013; a few links added.

Since the creation of Kwanzaa, many have correctly noted that it has no basis in black American history or heritage. For example, its seven core principles all have Swahili names. The Swahili language is predominant in East African countries—Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, etc.—but black Americans are almost all descended from West African cultures. (Disclaimer: In spite of being one of the rare Americans who does have some East African heritage, I have never celebrated Kwanzaa.)

Some have even opined that the celebration of Kwanzaa is an anathema to Christianity. On this I’m…ahem…agnostic, since Kwanzaa appears to have no religious or spiritual underpinnings—not unless one counts the religious and spiritual underpinnings of its creator, Dr. Maulana Karenga nee Ron Everett.

However, since this black American subcultural phenomenon has been dissected and denounced far and wide, I think it’s important to examine aspects of our larger, overarching culture, its traditions, and to know the truth about them.

And so we turn to Christmas and its questionable foundations.

Saturnalia by Ernesto Biondi

Nearly all religious scholars agree that Jesus the Christ wasn’t born on December 25th or the equivalent on the Jewish calendar. The reasons? Number one, it was too cold.
  •  Shepherds would not have been in the field at night with their flocks after October. (Luke 2:8)
  •  Romans would not have called for registration requiring travel in December because of the weather. (Matthew 24:20)
At what time of year was Jesus born? Follow the time line and don’t take my word for anything.

Irenaeus, one of the early church fathers (second century A.D.), claimed that Jesus was born in the 41st year of the reign of Augustus Caesar.* If that’s so, then Jesus was born in 2 B.C. rather than the generally accepted 4 B.C.

Zacharias, the father of John the Baptist, was a priest in the course of Abijah, the eighth course. (Luke 1:1) Note: The priestly caste was organized by King David into 24 courses. The length of each course was seven days, from Shabbat to the next Shabbat. (1 Chronicles 24: 1-19)

The last Jewish Temple was destroyed by Roman military commander Titus—later Emperor-- during the sacking of Jerusalem on Tish B’Av 3830, which on the Gregorian calendar was August 4, 70 A.D. At this time, the first priestly course had just taken office.

Working backward from the previous fact, one can see that the end of Zacharias’s course occurred on July 13, 3 B.C. In Luke 1, it is noted that his wife, Elizabeth became pregnant at that time.

If the birth of John the Baptist occurred anywhere from 271 to 280 days after that, then he was born in early to mid April of 2 B.C. And according to the Bible, Jesus the Christ was born five months later, in September. (Elizabeth was in her sixth month of pregnancy when Mary—pregnant with Jesus—came to visit her.) Some even think it might have been September 11th. (BTW, the good people at that last link have a slightly different and much more detailed timeline than mine.)

So, why do we celebrate Jesus’ birth on December 25th? Here's why.

The first Church experienced hundreds of years of persecution--first from the Jewish clergy, then from the Roman Empire. But when Emperor Constantine (of the western part of the empire and who converted himself and his empire to Christianity) and Emperor Licinius (of the eastern part) agreed to the Edict of Milan, Christianity became legal.

Constantine—who conducted the First Council of Nicaea--used pagan ideas and practices in order to make the newly condoned celebration of Christ’s birthday more palatable to his mostly pagan subjects. So it is that Christmas falls around the same time as two of pagan Rome's beloved festivals and had taken on the trappings of at least one.

The Saturnalia festival has an astronomical character, referring to the completion of the sun’s yearly course, and the commencement of a new cycle. Saturn, from whom we get the word for the day of the week, Saturday, represented by the sun at its lowest aspect at the winter solstice. The earth is cold, most plants are dead, and it was believed that the sun might also be approaching death. Today winter solstice is around December 21, but because of calendar changes, it was originally December 25th. Saturnalia celebrated the sun overcoming the power of winter, with hope of spring when life would be renewed. In Roman times Bacchus, the god of wine, became the lord of these festivals. (…)

In the Greek myths, Kronos (Saturn) was the Roman Deity of Time and an ancient Italian Corn God known as the Sower. Male ruler of the Roman Gods prior to Jupiter, Saturn's weapon was a scythe or sickle.  Kronos was one of the twelve titans. Upon the advice of Gaea (who understood the changes of life and knew that Uranus would never, of his own accord, yield to the younger generation), Saturn castrated his father and thus separated Heaven from Earth. Gaea created out of flint...a mineral of her own substance...a sickle with which to complete the deed. It was the tool by which life was cut down at the time of harvest and was crescent-shaped like the moon, symbolic of cyclic rise and fall. It was believed that the spilled blood of Uranus formed such creatures as the Giants and the Furies, and that his genitals (which were tossed into the sea eventually produced the beautiful Venus/Aphrodite).

But the actual choice of December 25 for Christmas was thought to have been made under the Emperor Aurelian* because this was the date of the Winter Solstice and was the day devotees of Mithras celebrated the dies natalis solis invictus 'birthday of the invincible sun.’

There are two Mithrases. One has origins in Persia-India; the other is Roman. Whether these are the same entity has long been in dispute.(Side note: Mithras and Saturn sound a whole lot like Osiris.)

Oh and, by the way, early Christians who tried to worship according to the Bible--that is, without the Saturnalia paraphernalia--were excommunicated from Constantine’s Roman Church.

And, finally, all of the traditions conjured in our minds when we think of Christmas have their origins in various pagan practices.
And then there’s this in Jeremiah 10:1-5.

10 Hear ye the word which the Lord speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:

Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.

For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.

They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.

They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.

Emphasis mine. I think my point is made.

Now, if people--Christians specifically--still want to celebrate the birth of Christ in the traditional manner, I don’t think there’s any harm in it as long as they know what they are doing and have knowledge of the foundations on which they conduct their celebrations. In Hosea 4:6, God said this about another set of His children:
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
Additionally, bashing the foundation of something inconsequential like Kwanzaa while, simultaneously, adorning one's house with the pagan symbols of an empire which did not serve the Living God is hypocritical and, more importantly, spiritually dangerous.

Just saying.

*Augustus was born Gaius Octavius and called Octavian. Irenaues counted Augustus’ reign from the second year following the death of the latter’s great-uncle and adoptive father, Julius Caesar (44 B.C.). The principate—“a system of monarchy headed by an emperor holding power for life”--did not exist until Octavian founded it in 27 B.C., subsequently taking on the name ‘Augustus.’

Read this Stuff (12/22/15)

Students at an ultra-liberal Ohio college are in an uproar over the fried chicken, sushi and Vietnamese sandwiches served in the school cafeterias, complaining the dishes are “insensitive” and “culturally inappropriate.”
Gastronomically correct students at Oberlin College — alma mater of Lena Dunham — are filling the school newspaper with complaints and demanding meetings with campus dining officials and even the college president.
General Tso’s chicken was made with steamed chicken instead of fried — which is not authentically Chinese, and simply “weird,” one student bellyached in the Oberlin Review.
Others were up in arms over banh mi Vietnamese sandwiches served with coleslaw instead of pickled vegetables, and on ciabatta bread, rather than the traditional French baguette.
I still, sometimes, feel the grief of my repented-of abortion and much-later miscarriage. Some feminists are surprised to discover that same grief.
These women are often angry. Justifiably so. Notice that these stories are much longer than the standard article. It takes more words to talk around the truth. Also, I suspect, because editors are unwilling to edit stories that are so raw, which makes Kimball’s complaint about a conspiracy of silence odd. Where is the sphere of silence and secrecy when national and international publications accept 10,000-word pieces on these topics?
The silence is in women’s emotional lives. What feminism insists we hide is not facts or bodily functions. Those we can flaunt—are encouraged to flaunt. We can talk about women stuff all we want. We just aren’t allowed to feel anything about it.
That is the reason the essential pretense is so essential. Who has feelings about a clump of cells? The feminist comfort Kimball spoke of regarding her abortion did not tell her how she would feel about the procedure, but that she did not need to feel anything about it. Pregnancy is just a biological function. There is no need to bring emotion into it. That’s the patriarchy and social conditioning talking. Just dismiss those feelings.
But then, one day, our desires change and the feelings don’t dismiss so easily. Occasionally, those undismissable feelings are not just about the baby.

My post at Da Tech Guy Blog from this past Saturday.

I must be getting old in the world of online opining—I’ve been blogging since 2003. Since that time, I’ve been called all manner of nasty things related to my race, religion, heritage, politics and whatnot. I’ve been called a whore for the white man and an African snob by black people. I’ve been called a Low Information Voter, an apologist for Islam(!) and a probable welfare queen by white people—the presumption was that I voted for the present POTUS. In 2008, I was even called “delusional” by an alleged conservative. My crime? Asserting that Barack Obama is a Marxist/socialist/progressive/communist. (Who’s the LIV now?)
As a result, insults pretty much roll off my back. In addition, I rather enjoy answering back like a civilized human while, sometimes slipping the verbal shiv in without the insulter knowing it…until they see their blood on the floor.
Conspiracy theories are a joke, right? Riiggght.
The mirror trades, as described in a Russian central bank report earlier this year on Deutsche Bank, involved clients buying Russian shares for rubles in Moscow and simultaneously selling them in London, usually for dollars, according to people familiar with the central bank’s findings.
That sort of trade, while legal in some circumstances, can also be used to skirt U.S. rules on reporting large international movements of money.
Russia’s central bank has slapped a derisory $5,000 fine on Deutsche Bank.
Meanwhile...

Stuff to Do

Thanks to some generous friends, I'm going out to apply for my passport today!

Also, I'm headed to the LAPL. Usually, I download e-books and audiobooks from the LAPL website; as I've mentioned before, virtual books make public transportation so much easier. It's only on occasion that I will haul my butt over to a branch to pick up a dead-tree book. In this case, the book is needed for a post I'm composing.

And, it occurs to me that virtual books can make one a bit lazy...

Want something to read? Go see why Jim Treacher thinks that Donald Trump won last night's debate and why he thinks Trump will be the next POTUS. One way or another, it will get your blood boiling!
